The Japanese Earthquake of 2029, also known as "the big one", is a massive earthquake that devastated most of Japan, including nearly whiping out Tokyo. Its epicenter was located 20 miles north of Kyoto.
Japan's economy was so desecrated after the quake, that the nation went bankrupt. In 2030, it was aquired by the United States until it could rebuild. Many companies relocated, and Tokyo Disneyland's remaining rides were moved to other Disney Parks in Florida, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, and India.
